The Colorado Rockies bolstered their bullpen by acquiring right-handed reliever Matt Lindstrom from the Houston Astros on Thursday. In exchange, the Rockies sent minor league pitchers Wes Musick and Jonnathan Aristil to Houston. Lindstrom, eligible for salary arbitration, has made at least 50 appearances in all four of his seasons in the majors.

Bill Hall doesn't like to be called a utility player. After finalizing a contract with Houston on Monday, he can shed that title and be known as the Astros' starting second baseman. Hall received a $3.25 million, one-year contract from Houston that includes a $4 million mutual option for 2012.

A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press that the Houston Astros have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent Bill Hall that guarantees $3.25 million. The person spoke Friday on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced. Hall's agreement contains a mutual option for 2012 with a buyout.
